Ship Security Officer (SSO) Training
This course has been developed by Blue Mountain for those who are seeking to obtain the knowledge to become Ships Security Officer's (SSO) within the Maritime Security Sector.
This course meets the criteria as detailed in the International Ship and Port Facility Security code (ISPS) Part A and corresponding guidance given in Part B.
Course Overview;
This course has been developed with guidance provided by the IMO, TRANSEC, the MCA and importantly the contents of the ISPS and is designed to ensure competencies for personnel with the duties of a ships security officer. This course is an MCA accredited course.
On completion of the course the delegates will have sufficient knowledge and will understand best practise's used in this role, they will understand how to:
- Utilise and understand the international framework developed to detect security threats and how then to take preventative measures
- To understand the respective roles and responsibilities
- To ensure the early and efficient collection and exchange of security related information
- Provide a methodology for security assessments and plans
- How to ensure that proportionate and adequate maritime security measures are in place
- Communication and reporting procedures
Blue Mountain will also sponsor all applicants that attend for the Seaman’s Card (international visa issued by the Maritime Coastguard Agency) so that they can be deployed if required.
