Get into the groove

15 October 2018

Blue Mountain Group and The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents,(RoSPA) are promoting October Tyre Safety Month which is organised by the UK charity TyreSafe

‘Get into the groove’

Make sure your tyres have the correct pressure

  • Get into the groove with the 20p tread test
  • Get down and check your tyre condition
  • Check your tyres at least once a month, every month

Tyre treads are designed to pump water from the road surface and provide maximum grip.  By the time the tread is worn down to the legal limit they will be unable to perform this task efficiently and MUST be replaced.  RoSPA recommends that tyres be changed at 3mm rather than 1.6mm, which is the legal minimum depth across the centre ¾ of the width of the tread throughout the entire circumference of the tyre.

It is also important to visually inspect the tyres for cracks and bulges and check that the pressure is correct.

BMG recommend we all put this into practise.

Having offered Advanced Driver Training for over 15 years – these basic checks are essential to the high level of service and professionalism demanded by today’s market. In partnership with RoSPA – who are responsible for awarding the highest civilian qualification of its kind obtainable in Europe – we train our delegates to an exceptional level of competence.

Blue Mountain Group offer Security Chauffeur, Evasive & Defensive Driver training and more – get in touch with Zoe to discuss your requirements:
